So my name is Hyunseok Choi, and I've never really done anything like this before. I don't really know what you need, if you need like references or anything like that, but I don't think I can actually provide much in the way of that anyway.

I don't think there's anyone left who would even want to be a reference for me...

Look, recently I found myself in a really, really bad situation when trying to get out of a different kind of bad situation. I'm not sure if it was worth it yet or not, but if I can get out of this current situation that'd be pretty amazing. I don't really know how much you guys know about us, but I know a lot of this is my fault to begin with. I really messed up, and I wanted to make things right for the people I messed it all up for. I just didn't know that making it right would end up screwing me over as much as it did.

This is vague, right? I can't go into a lot of details, but something I did ended up cursing my little brother, and to get him uncursed I kind of had to turn to something with bigger magic than the thing that cursed him in the first place. I don't know if you have even bigger magic than my current magical problem, but just any time to get away from it is all I need.

» SETTING: EARTH: South Korea. Year 2020

There isn't much different about the Earth that Hyunseok comes from, and the Earth we all live on. Well, technology is a couple of years ahead, and gods and magical beings exist, but otherwise it's exactly the same! Yes, on Hyunseok's version of Earth magic is very much real, though it isn't visible to the average person on the street. Most humans are completely unaware supernatural creatures walk among them every day, and most are probably happier for it.

Hyunseok himself was also pretty squarely in the unknowing portion of the population until he was about nineteen, and then he got to find out for himself about the existence of magic the hard way. He also learned a couple of important lessons from all of this: one, gods fight with each other in the same petty ways that humans do, but the stakes are much, much higher, and two, it's not a good idea to get yourself tangled up in forces way beyond your puny mortal understanding.

» INFLUENTIAL EVENTS:
Meeting and Entrapping Haein: While Hyunseok himself could never get into a university with the deplorable entrance exam scores he got, he did have a number of much more academically inclined friends who he spent time with while they were on campus. It was during that time he met a university student named Haein, who Hyunseok tried to befriend based on the very shallow reason that Haein was attractive. It was only after befriending him that Hyunseok learned Haein was a little less human than everyone else around him. It was also about that time that Hyunseok got his hands on a cursed/charmed object that allowed him to force Haein to grant wishes for him. Turns out Haein had a petty uncle who thought this was a great way to get back at the boy for daring to be born. It allowed the holder near unlimited access to Haein's powerful magic. Great for Hyunseok! Not so much for Haein...

That Bad Brother Wish and Many More Minor Mistakes: Turns out not so great for Hyunseok after all. Unsurprisingly, Haein was bitter about being forced to be someone's wish granting genie, and all of his wishes came with a monkey paw like catch. If Hyunseok needed a new lamp and wished for one, then the lamp would shock him the minute he turned it on. If Hyunseok was hungry and wished for something to eat, then Haein would magic up some spoiled food that was bound to give him food poisoning. A clever and inventive person might have been able to outwit Haein and get exactly what they wanted, but a clever and inventive person Hyunseok is not. This series of magically made disasters came to a head when Hyunseok "thirsty boy" Choi tried to make a love (more like lust) wish (a big no no in the wish granting world in the first place), and Haein decided to take his revenge by casting a little spell on Hyunseok's brother. This was not a welcome outcome.

Making a Deal with a God: A couple of years of heavy discomfort and avoidance in the Choi household, and Hyunseok managed to find a way to undo the damage Haein had done. A nameless god presented himself to Hyunseok with the promise of undoing the magic cast on his brother in exchange for Hyunseok's servitude. Thinking over this very heavy offer for all of five seconds, Hyunseok immediately signed the dotted like (metaphorically speaking), and doomed himself to the whims of a god with a very questionable moral compass. The worst part of it all? This god now indirectly had access to Haein's vast powers through Hyunseok, and he was much more clever and inventive than Hyunseok could ever hope to be. Oops.

» FIT: To be honest, Hyunseok is not the first person that anyone would choose for space exploration. He's not particularly bright, and he's certainly not trained in any way that would bring anything useful to the table. The boy doesn't really have any skills to offer anyone that a mildly intelligent and well trained dog couldn't also provide. He is, however, relatively adaptive, and stubborn enough to keep charging forward even when odds are stacked against him. He compartmentalizes like a champ so mental trauma can mostly be shoved down, and he is at least in good physical shape, so that means when things go wrong he can run the other way pretty darned fast.
